France : Mobipool by Desjoyaux

During the Piscine Global Europe 2016 fair, the Desjoyaux Mobipool received a prize for the Piscine Innovations contest.

Mobipool is the first floating, modular pool to be installed in natural surroundings and which provides 100% safe bathing, whether in a lake or other body of water (with few currents and variations in level). The concept has since been patented around the world.

Mobipool meets one particular need: that of finally being able to swim in a safe structure and in water that is perfectly filtered, even in the middle of a natural environment. It enables one to make use of great bodies of water which would normally be considered unsuitable or unsafe, across the globe.

A bonus: Mobipool is easily demountable, making it ideal for occasional or one-off needs  like in the case of an event.

Mobipool is composed of modular structures and pontoons of quality, selected materials: an armed PVC membrane, pontoons in aluminium for optimal floating and marine-standard stainless steel for the structure. Mobipool is highly resistant and it offers pipeless filtration which is really practical when you are in the middle of a lake.

Mobipool varies in size from 6 m x 3 m to 20 m x 10 m (20 ft x 10 ft to 65 ft x 32 ft). Mobipool is an evolutive swimming pool in that we may add other pontoons which are easily mounted, dismounted and moved according to one’s needs. Mobipool can be installed outside in one day, whatever its size.

France : Desjoyaux JD Pac Heater System

Desjoyaux pools are for recreation, exercise, therapy or just general enjoyment and will require heating for those who cannot take cold water. Your pool will not contribute to your health or pleasure if it is not warm enough to swim in comfortably.

Taking into consideration the need to conserve energy and to minimize electricity consumption, any unnecessary pool heating should be avoided.

Desjoyaux’s JD Pac heat pump for Desjoyaux pools brings you comfort and wellness. It is economic to run and is environment-friendly. It enables you to swim in warmer water and for a longer time.

Installing a JD Pac heat pump is not only reliable and economical but also preserves the environment. 80% of the energy transferred to the pool is obtained from thermal energy contained in the air. When used in conjunction with a heat-retaining bubble cover, a heat pump can double the length of your heated pool. What is more, the system is simplicity itself to use – all you have to do is set your pump to 28°C! This system is suitable for both newly built and existing pools.

The heat pump is easy to install requiring only straightforward electrical and hydraulic connections. The heat pump must be installed outdoors. The JD Pac air/water unit operates at outdoor air temperatures of +7°C and above.

The JD Pac is equipped with a PSA patented titanium condenser for totally corrosion-proof operation. A titanium heat exchanger is used to recover energy from the outside air and transfer it to the water in the pool.

The advantages of Desjoyaux JD Pac are:

  • Economical and effective
    • Reliable
    • Extremely quiet
    • Takes account of environmental concerns
    • Simple to use: set your heat pump to 28°C and enjoy.

All titanium elements in contact with water are covered by a 5-year corrosion warranty and the heat pump is guaranteed for 2 years.

France : Desjoyaux JD Sel Sea Salt Chlorination System

The Desjoyaux JD Sel Sea is a salt electrolysis water treatment system and must work at least six hours daily to upkeep the pool. The salt system will cut down the chemical usage and cleaning process.

Salt chlorinated pools do have chlorine, but the chlorine level is lower than a traditional chlorinated pool. The existence of salt helps to reduce the chemical effect to the skin and pool and it kills chloramines faster.  Chloramines are chemical compounds that build up in pool water when it is improperly treated. Chloramines result from the combination of two ingredients: (a) chlorine disinfectants and (b) perspiration, oils and urine that enter pools from swimmers. Chloramines are responsible for the “chlorine smell” of pools and chloramines can cause skin and eye irritations.

Electrolysis works by adding a small amount of salt to the water in the pool (4g/litre). After the water is filtered, it is then treated by electrolysis, which converts the salt into a powerful sterilising agent, killing off all algae and bacteria and oxidising any organic residues. In spite of the combined effects of swimmers and sunshine, the salt remains in the water and allows the disinfecting process to be constantly renewed.

The benefits of Desjoyaux JD Sel Sea are:

  • Easy start up;
  • Consistent water quality and unrivalled comfort (No more unpleasant smells and red sore eyes whilst swimming);
  • Highly-automated for ease of operation and low maintenance. (For example, an easily-run self-test lets you check the electrolyser’s main functions in only a few seconds.);
  • Reduced operating costs;
  • Continuous disinfection of pool water in step with filtration;
  • Automatic cover function which automatically reduces the amount of chlorine produced when the pool is covered; and
  • Minimum maintenance – just add salt once per session.

JD Sel Sea is made in FRANCE and is guaranteed for three years (electronic parts and cell).

2011 France: Desjoyaux – Integration of liner manufacturing in Desjoyaux plant

Desjoyaux’s craftsmanship and quality ensures that our liners keep your pool watertight. The liners fix easily to the structure with liner locks meaning it is just as simple to replace, with no need for intervention on the coping or the pool. The liners are welded to size on site and give the pool its color.

Desjoyaux liners come in a range of different colors and tones. Logos can be welded on to the liners. Liners can also be artistically or specially designed.

Desjoyaux liners have no limitations as to the length, width and depth. Liners are smooth to the touch and are non-porous and therefore inhibit algae growth. Liners are easily repaired and replaced with very little down time.

Desjoyaux liners come with a 5 year degressive warranty.

1983, France: Desjoyaux – Pipeless Filtration Unit

In 1983, Desjoyaux patented the pipeless filtration unit, a revolutionary product at that time and even presently.   It does not require any pump room; and special options like cross current and hydrotherapy systems can be added.  Inspired by outboard engines, the exclusive Desjoyaux filtration system adopts the concept of a standalone unit, and thus eliminates the need for a costly underground pipe system, balancing tank, and external pump. When installed, the unit can either: straddle the pool wall, be integrated into the structure, or be disguised in the form of a staircase.

  1. Straddle the pool wall – Surface Mounted Units

Surface-mounted units are the most emblematic of Desjoyaux’s filtration systems over the years.  It has been wildly successful due to its efficiency, practicality, and innovative yet simple design.

  1. Integrated into the structure – Filtration Units

Integrated filtration units offer an all-in-one solution that can be installed into the pool structure.

  1. Disguised in the form of a staircase – Jet Set Filtering Stairs

Jet Set filtering stairs are the ultimate luxury among our filtration units.  It is a filtration system with spa options.  It is cleverly designed to integrate spa-style hydrotherapy into the unit.

Desjoyaux’s filtration unit  features a submerged filtration compartment that also houses the spotlights and a technical compartment and is built onto the pool deck.  Options like cross current swimming and pool heating are also available.

The advantages of the Desjoyaux filtration system are:

  • Quick and high filtration, resulting in exceptional water quality;
    • Renewed water in the pool every 2 hours, compared with the usual average of 6 hours;
    • Pipe-less – zero chance of underground pipe leakage and reduced electricity consumption;
    • Quick installation with no pump room thereby saving space;
    • Proven effectiveness and runs silently;
    • Easy maintenance because of easy accessibility;
    • Simple winterisation procedure;
    • Decreased pressure losses;
    • Reduced after-sales service;

1974, France: Desjoyaux – Patented Active Casing (Structure)

In 1974, after testing several methods for building swimming pools, Jean Desjoyaux invented a new casing system and founded the Forez Piscines company to develop the innovative concept.

Four years later, in 1978, the active permanent casing was patented by Desjoyaux.  The composition of this active permanent casing has evolved over time.

This Desjoyaux casing structure integrates all the technical expertise necessary to offer the perfect solution to the challenges of quick installation, durability and flexibility.   It uses panels made from recycled polypropylene mixed with carbonate that can be assembled into any shape and size.

The casing is then fitted in a single operation, using a highly-specialized method that produces a hard-wearing durable pool with plenty of creative freedom in terms of its design: specifically, the installation technique maximizes the pool’s service life by casting the reinforced concrete bed-slab and the side-walls into a single-unit structure. With Desjoyaux’s exclusive expertise, the pool is guaranteed to be rot-proof, leak-free and free-standing.

Benefits of Desjoyaux’s active permanent casing:

  • an industrially mature and exclusively patented technique;
  • a self-supporting reinforced concrete structure with a series of posts, resolving the expansion-related problems inherent in concrete designs and eliminating the risk of separation;
  • exceptionally resistant to frost and ground movements;
  • record-breaking construction time as 80% of the technical challenges are resolved at the factory;
  • an unlimited choice of design shapes and sizes, with the structure delivered to the site according to the requested pool size and shape;
  • manufacturing and installation processes certified by Bureau Veritas;
  • 10-year international guarantee.

1966, France: Jean Desjoyaux

In 1966,  Jean Desjoyaux, a self-employed builder, undertook the tedious task of constructing a swimming pool for his family, his three children in particular.  Surprising even himself, upon completion, Jean Desjoyaux would come to realise that a swimming pool was not just concrete, coping stones and water; it was contagious happiness, a shared family spirit.  Over time, it even brought friends and neighbours together, in a relaxed atmosphere reminiscent of the best holidays. And for Jean Desjoyaux, this delightful experience sealed a conviction within himself that every family should have the right to enjoy the laughter, fun and wonderful memories that a family pool brings. With that inspiration, Piscines Desjoyaux was founded.
